Book Buddy Visit

We had a great time with our book buddies last Friday.  We sorted shapes, explored patterns and colors, and got to know each other more.   We are really enjoying our kindergarten buddies and love having them stop in for a visit!  Share the fun we had through these photos.  Not all of them are on the blog, but I posted the ones I had.  I'll get the others on later.    http://s114.photobucket.com/albums/n245/judy1davis/?action=view&current=1160852125.pbw

  • Finish Math pg 76/77 (1-42)
  • Do noun worksheets

Rock Eagle is  Monday:  Be at school before 7:50 a.m.  Wear your Due West 5th grade tee-shirt.  We'll give you a Rock Eagle tee- shirt to wear home.

Weather:  It is going to be gorgeous.  Both days have predictions of 82 for the high and 56 low temperature.  We are in luck!  There is a 20% chance of rain so pack a light poncho.....a really inexpensive one will do.

We'll "rock" the eagle!  Rest up!

Off and running!

We are off to a great start this year and I just want to let everyone know we are doing wonderful things in the classroom.  We even named our blog today!  Thank you for having students on time and in school for testing this week.  Remember to PRACTICE multiplication facts as 5th grade students should REALLY know them by now and we don't have time during our day for drills.  Go to one of the links on this blog for some practice!

We'll be updating our blog frequently and posting our newsletter there so be sure and visit everyday.   Remember it is not a "chat room" and never use your real name.

Here are some recent pictures from a visit with our book buddies in Mrs. Roberts' kindergarten class.  We had a great time visiting them and getting acquainted.  We're looking forward to lots of activities with them this year at Due West Elementary School.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.  I'm sharing some powerpoint presentations recently done in class.  Enjoy....our students really enjoyed doing them and learned lots of Health information, too!  We also did some from a Time For Kids article (thanks, PTA) summarizing an article using the four types of sentences.  Download Earthquake.ppt Download Presentation1.ppt

I'll link more later.

Due West Fifth Grade Students "Rocked" the Eagle!  We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed all of the activities while at Rock Eagle.  Many thanks to our chaperones, Mr. Brummeler, Mr. DuPre, Mr. Jones, Mrs. Chalmers, and Mrs. Edwards.  Mrs. Vaughn and I really appreciated all of their support while on the trip!  I am attaching some photos taken at Rock Eagle and hope you enjoy them.  There were no lions or tigers or bears (Oh My!) but there were turtles, snakes, and crocodiles!  I'll have more at school on Monday.  We have lots to do next week as we are off the following week for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Our "milk and cookies" will be Tuesday morning.  Have a great weekend and enjoy this beautiful weather.  I'm off to watch the football game.....go Dawgs....wooof, wooof, wooof!

Be sure and let your parents view our photos and thank them again for letting you go on the trip!  Maybe unpack your own bag and clean your room without being asked to do so!

The Fall festival was a huge success!  I was in school at KSU Saturday so I was unable to attend.  Our class won free cookies/milk from the Great Harvest Bread Company for our entry in the scarecrow contest!  My, she does look familiar!  I'm attaching pictures for those of you who were unable to attend the festival or who haven't recently been at school.

Mvc001s_4 Mvc003s_1 Mvc004s_3                           Thank you Mrs. Vaughn and students for making my "Forever 29" image so memorable.  I think the feathers helped!  Double-click on the image to make it bigger.

Rock Eagle is awaiting the arrival of our fifth grade students.  We have lots of classes planned and I'm sure we'll stay busy.  Remember to be on time Thursday morning for our trip and we'll be back on Friday afternoon at 2:30 PM.  Please make arrangements to stay in ASP or a ride home if your parents cannot come get you.  It looks like the weather predicted for the two days is going to be beautiful.  If you bring a camera, please write your name on the camera with a sharpie.  Check your packing list and make sure you have everything you NEED, not everything you WANT.

Chaperones are Mrs. Cavender, Mrs. Chalmers, and Mrs. Edwards.  The boys will have Mr. Brummeler, Mr. DuPre, and Mr. Jones.  Thank you for going on the trip with us; you'll have a great time even if you don't get much sleep!

Math:  Please finish Cummulative Review on pages 128-129.

Remember there is no school tomorrow but your teacher will be working hard at school.  Enjoy your time off in this beautiful weather.
