WOW! Our class contributed 640 Box Tops to win the fall contest and cupcake treat. Our second deadline to turn in more Box Tops is in December.
Reading - Ask your child what he has been reading. Individual interests are really showing now. Currently, nonfiction books, chapter books, and biographies are favorites. AR scores are reaching new heights.Keep up the good work!
Writing - We have been working on writing detailed sentences with correct grammar and punctuation. We have been using the 4 square approach for developing paragraphs and stories. Narrative and informational writing have been introduced.
Math - Multiplication, division and geometry have been our main focus this 9 weeks. Your child should have mastered facts through 6 by now. Daily practice is necessary if these facts are not mastered. Facts about polygons, triangles, angles, and circles have all been introduced.
Spelling - Please remember that the Sitton spelling words have to be spelled correctly in everyday writing. Spelling grades are composed of both the tests and daily application of the words.
Social Studies/Science - The study of important historical figures is part of our Social Studies curriculum this year. Our first in depth study is on Paul Revere. We have been studying economics for the last couple of weeks. Our economics test will be this Friday, November 21. We enjoyed our trip to Heritage Park, and will continue to study fossils, soil and Georgia habitats.
Happy Thanksgiving!
