Teacher Appreciation Week

Thanks to PTA for providing a wonderful week of activities for Teacher Appreciation Week. I would like to personally thank Mrs. Lawrence and Mrs. Collins for covering my class while I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and lunch provided by PTA.

Also I love the roses the children brought in on Thursday. Our room smells heavenly from the aroma. A special thank to all the children for the handmade cards i received on Friday. To those families who filled the basket with goodies and gift cards, I want to express a very heartfelt thank you. I know that Due West is definitely the BEST!

Science

We have begun a new unit on Matter.Students need to be aware that everything is made of matter and can change. Students will be able to identify, describe and classify the three states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas according to their properties. they will learn that all matter takes up space and has mass. When we finish this unit, students will be able to describe the changes that apply to matter and identify how changes affect the properties of matter.

Remember School pictures are on Wednesday, September 12 at 9:25 a.m.

Don't forget to study all the Sitton Spelling words in your Spelling notebooks. Pay close attention to about,their, there, what, have and they.

Everyone should be reading every night. Some of the students are doing a great job on their Accelerated Reading books. New reports will come home at the end of each month.

Be watching for information about several field trips that will be happening in the near fututre. High Tech / High Touch and WellStar will be coming to school.

• Individual pencil sharpener (not a toy)
• 1 bos of tissues (for class use)
