Happenings in Music

 Music


WOW!!! Thanks for the new activboard we have in music! Kindergarten and First are working on one and two sounds per beat. Second grade is studying January/February holiday songs. Third grade is being challenged with the Orff instruments while fourth grade has reviewed how sounds, vibrations and how music and science can integrate and become one. Fifth grade is reviewing instruments of the orchestra, writing rhythms, singing partner songs.

FIFTH GRADE MEETS THE ASO

Fifth Grade students are preparing to go to the symphony. Students will hear music by some of the greatest composers including Orff, Dvorak, Shostakovich and a fairly young composer, Jennifer Higdon. Students will hear the Grammy Award winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at the new Cobb Energy Center located in Cobb County. Students have been ask to dress nicer for this event. Congratulations Fifth Grade for a great musical performance. Thanks to ALL students who were there, brought picYou_rocktures, stayed after school for extra rehearsals and made an extra effort to be there. You were
AWESOME!

Remember we are getting ready to go to the symphony and also beginning to play recorders so we can prepare for middle school. Come ready to work, bring your recorders, folder and pencils and watch us grow musically.

Report Cards

Yes, the new report cards are here for 4951644Grades K-2 and all students received three postings in music. Each child was assessed in Pitch, Rhythm and Learning Skills and Behaviors. The first two assessments (which applied to the Georgia Performance Music Standards) were assessed with numbers 1,2,3. The Learning Skills and Behaviors were graded with a N,P,S. If you have any concerns please check with Mrs. Dewberry for a brochure about the report card or please contact me - cindy.morrison@cobbk12.org.

Third through Fifth Grade are being assessed in two areas- The first includes academic content/participation and the second is behavior. These students receive N,S,O.
