BOOK OF THE MONTH-OCTOBER

The October Book of the Month is Leonardo the Terrible Monster by Mo Willems.  Leonard is terrible at being a monster!  No one is afraid of him no matter what he does.  He finally discovers something better than being a monster!  Stop by the Media Center and check out the display that Mrs. Dupree made for our October book.Img_0024

Media Center Activities

The Media Center has been BUSY these past weeks!  Many students are coming to the Media Center before school each day to check out books!  Mrs. Dupree and I love seeing so many students READING!!!  Some of the recent lessons have been Kindergartners and Senses; First Graders and Water Cycle and Weather; Second Graders and Matter and Maps; Third Graders and Biographies; Fourth Graders and U.S. Regions and Fifth Graders and Civil War.  The pictures show Mrs. Entsminger's Fourth Grade class working on a regions project and the book that was read.Img_0018 Img_0020

MEDIA CENTER ORIENTATIONS

Orientation3 Orientation2

The Media Center has been very busy since school opened!  All of the classes have visited the Media Center for Orientation.  Since Due West is GOLDEN this year, Mrs. Stigall was dressed in gold from head to toe celebrating our 50 years of learning!  If you want to see a busy place, stop by the Media Center any morning before school!  It's wonderful to see so many students excited about reading!  Besides lessons on taking care of books, Kindergartners learned about respect and good manners, Second Grade studied communities, Third Grade was rockin' about rocks, Fourth Grade learned about weather and Fifth Grade had stories on the Underground Railroad.
