The movie-themed BOOK FAIR will be in the Media Center from March 16 - March 20. Lots of fun activities have been planned for this exciting, book-filled week! Students have been previewing the Book Fair this week with Cinema Cindy.

DUE WEST PREMIER NIGHT - Tuesday March 17 - 5:00p.m. - 7:00p.m. Dress up like a star or movie character and SHOP the Book Fair!
5:00-7:00 Karaoke and popcorn in the gym
6:00 Parade of Due West Stars-Walk the Red Carpet into the gym!
6:00-7:00 Star photos in the Media Center

Classroom Wish Lists will be on display for students to purchase a book for their classroom library.
We will be participating in the ONE FOR BOOKS program and all money donated will be given to Hayes Elementary to help some of their students buy books from their Book Fair.

March 2nd was a busy day at Due West! Chad Crews combined his love for books and reading, magic, and animals to provide a fantastic show for all of the students. Mr. Crews has written a book So You Want to Learn Magic? Students who are interested may purchase an autographed book for $10.00. The deadline to order the book is Friday, March 6.
The Cat in the Hat was also at Due West all day visiting with students and classes. Each student was given a Cat certificate and Cat bookmark to take home.
The entire school also participated in D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) at 2:00
Due West will be celebrating Read Across America and Dr. Seuss' Birthday next Monday, March 2. Chad Crews will be our special guest all day. He is an author, storyteller, and magician and he will be sharing the joys of reading with all of our students! Students will be able to order an autographed copy of his book So You Want to Learn Magic? for $10. Order forms will be sent home on March 2. The forms and payment must be returned by Friday, March 6.
The Media Center recently added almost 500 NEW BOOKS to the collection! Over 200 new ARC quizzes were also added. Students are excited about all the new books!
Safari Sindy welcomes you to the BOOK FAIR SAFARI which will be in the Media Center from October 6-October 10. Students will be bringing home an informational packet about the Book Fair including hours and special events.
*Muffins for Moms is on Tuesday, Oct. 7 before school.
*Donuts for Dads is on Thursday, Oct. 9 before school.
*Family Night-before and after the PTA meeting. on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The Circus Ringmaster is leading all the third grade classes on a lesson about the THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT.

DUE WEST IS WILD ABOUT LEARNING is the school's theme this year so of course the Media Center's theme is DUE WEST IS WILD ABOUT READING!!! The Media Center orientations went on a safari around the Media Center!
