The Concert
The 1st Grade Concert will take place on Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 PM. This will be the only 1st grade performance of the 2015-2016 school year, so please make attending it a priority. All of the students will be preparing for the concert during music class, and I would love for all of you to be in attendance.

This concert will take place at the end of the PTA meeting in the gym at Due West Elementary School.  On the night of the concert, please send your 1st grader to his/her classroom no earlier than 6:15 and no later than 6:30 PM. Please keep your child's personal effects (jackets, DS's, iPods, purses, umbrella's etc.) with you in the gym. 

What to wear:
On the night of the concert, please have your child dress up.  For example, the boys may wear slacks and a collared shirt; girls may wear slacks or skirt and a blouse, or a dress.

Permission slips went home on Thursday, April 14, for our Cagle Dairy's trip on May 6th. Please fill them out and return them ASAP! :)

 

We have been practicing flexibility this week. We have readjusted our schedule with all of the testing going on in the building. The students are being awesome sports about working with the new schedule.

 

Thank you to your families for donating to the Due West Trailblazer Trot. Today, 4/15, is the last day for collection. I will have an official total for our class on Monday. We are to thankful for your generosity to our school!

Plant and Animal Needs

Our class has been investigating the characteristics and basic needs of plants and animals. Students applied their learning of the basic needs of animals by creating a new animal species. In the computer lab we designed an illustrated fact sheet highlighting the new animal discoveries. Enjoy!

Happy Polar Express Day!

11/11 - Veteran's Day - Thank you to all who have and are currently serving our country. We appreciate all you do for us!

 

Please make sure you are working hard with your kids on sight words! We are quickly reaching the halfway point of the year, and it is important that your children are still reading and practicing their sight words!
